Report of Findings
Licensing received a complaint on February 13, 2020, alleging concerns regarding care and supervision. The following information was provided:
- Wound care and care plans are not being followed

All areas of the complaint were fully investigated. Licensing determined the following contraventions:
- Residential Care Regulation (RCR) s. 81(4)(a) - Care plan needed if more than 30 day stay
- RCR s. 81(4)(b)(i) - Care plan needed if more than 30 day stay
- RCR s. 82 - Implementation of care plans

Observed Violations/Contraventions: A summary of the violations found during the complaint investigation are listed below.

34740 - RCR s.81(4)(a)A licensee must ensure that (a) the implementation of each care plan is monitored on a regular basis to ensure proper implementation.
Observation: It was determined that the implementation of care plans were not being monitored appropriately and that staff were not following the skin care protocols.
Corrective action: Corrective action plan in place.
34750 - RCR s.81(4)(b)(i)A licensee must ensure that (b) each care plan is reviewed and, if necessary, modified (i) if there is a substantial change in the circumstances of the person in care.
Observation: It was observed that 1 care plan had not been updated to include wound care.
Corrective action: Corrective action plan in place.
34780 - RCR s.82A licensee must ensure that the care and supervision of a person in care is consistent with the terms and conditions of the person in care's care plan.
Observation: It was determined that staff were not following the wound care protocols or care plans for 3 residents.
Corrective action: Corrective action plan in place.
