Underlying Problems: Unacceptable microbiological water quality results along with operator informing Northern Health that there was a recent failure in the integrity of the distribution system. The operator was also unaware if the distribution system had been properly flushed and disinfected after the distribution system integrity failure.
Steps Taken to Remedy: Contacted operator to discuss the overgrowth of bacteria in the most recent samples taken, as well as the potential cause of the unacceptable microbiological water quality results. Operator will need to provide public notice to all appropriate parties of the Boil Water Notice, as well as place signs on all publicly accessible taps.
Corrective Actions Remaining: Provide public notice to users. Operator also needs to determine if the treatment system is operational, if the distribution system has been repaired and is intact, as well as levels of residual chlorine within the system. The distribution system needs to be flushed and disinfected, as well as sampling sites Cabin 4 and Cabin 9 resampled at least one week after disinfecting the lines. At least two consecutive sets of satisfactory samples collected at least 24 hours apart will also be required. |
