Report of Findings
On September 7, 2022, Licensing received a complaint regarding medication and records and reporting at the facility. The complainant provided the following details:

-Child A was administered twice the amount of prescribed medication
-A medication error occurred and this was not reported to Licensing

All areas of the complaint were fully investigated. Evidence was obtained through an interview with the Manager and reviewing evidence. Licensing determined the following contraventions:
- Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) section 53 (1)(a)
- CCLR section 55 (2)(a)

16010 - CCLR s.53(1)(a)If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan.
Observation: Through an interview with the Manager, Licensing determined that a staff member administered twice the amount of medication to a child than what is specified by the child's care plan and instructed by the parent.

19030 - CCLR s.55(2)(a)A licensee must notify the medical health officer within 24 hours after (a) a child is involved in, or may have been involved in, a reportable incident described in Schedule H while under the care or supervision of the licensee.
Observation: Licensing determined through an interview with the Manager that the Licensee did not notify the licensing officer within 24 hours that a child was involved in or may have been involved in a reportable incident as described in Schedule H as required.
