This facility is currently under a Boil Water Notice

Underlying Problems: Talking with the operator, it sounds like there had been a bout of heavy rain and there was little to no chlorine within the water system. Given that the well is heavily influenced by surface water, combined with the fact there was no chlorine in the system, I think that these circumstances came together to result in the unsatisfactory water quality results we saw from June 21st. This water system needs treatment and is required to have treatment works installed by October 3, 2016. Until then, a longer term BWN needs to be considered… thoughts for further discussion.
     Steps Taken to Remedy: Tatuk Lake Resort was put on a boil water notice due to unsatisfactory water quality results at 4 of 5 sampling locations. See below: Residence – TC = 21, E.coli = L1 Campsite Standpipe – TC = 29, E.coli = L1 Cabin 1 – TC = EST 25, E.coli = EST 1 Showerhouse – TC = 18, E.coli = L1
Corrective Actions Remaining: Operator needs to post signage at all taps indicating that there is a boil water notice, notify current guests, and inform all new guests on arrival. Operator was also asked to shock chlorinate and flush the system. Operator is required to submit two samples 24 hours apart with satisfactory results prior to the BWN being lifted. Chlorine was also discussed with the operator. It was instructed that chlorine needs to be added to the system in such a way that there is a uniform distribution of chlorine throughout the water system at all times.
