This will help to ensure that in the event of an emergency (e.g. power outage, unsatisfactory water result, outbreak, flooding), the operator or back-up operator can easily respond to the situation and minimize any health and safety risks to the water system. It is also required under the Drinking Water Protection Act (Section 10) and Drinking Water Protection Regulation (Section 13).
