Observation: 319- As specified in the conditions of the Operating permit for Riverside, chemical analysis of the source water is required every 5 years. The last chemical analysis report on file was done in 2003. A water chemistry test is long overdue for this water system.
Corrective Action: - Corrective action: A water chemistry test is due September 14, 2015. A list will be e-mailed to the operator regarding required chemical parameters to be tested.

Observation: 320- No Emergency Response Plan. It is important to have a written plan that includes emergency procedures and contacts readily available. This will help to ensure that in the event of an emergency (e.g. power outage, unsatisfactory water result, outbreak, flooding), the operator or back-up operator can easily respond to the situation and minimize any health and safety risks to the water system. It is also required under the Drinking Water Protection Act (Section 10) and Drinking Water Protection Regulation (Section 13).
Corrective Action: Corrective action: Please develop a written Emergency Response Plan and submit a copy by September 14, 2015. A template of the plan will be e-mailed to the operator

Observation: 320 -The conditions of the Operating permit also indicate that the operator must be trained to operate a small water system. According to the file, operator training has been requested since 2012.
Corrective Action: - Corrective action: Please obtain training within 1 year (August 2016). This can be obtained through Northern Health (in-class courses are scheduled on an on-demand basis – check with EHO to determine the next available date); or Thompson River University, which offers WaterSafe BC – an online course http://www.tru.ca/trades/programs/water/watersafe/course-information.html
