Observation: Bleach solution are stored next to other chemicals without a containment basin. Public health significance - in the event of a spill, incompatible chemicals can mix and produce toxic gas.
Corrective Action: Store incompatible chemicals away from one another, and store bleach containers in a containment basin.
317   Inadequate or improper construction of water works
Observation: Well within pumphouse is not covered. Bypass valve in treatment room is not locked. Public Health significance - inadequate protection of source water can lead to contamination of drinking water. Accidental bypass of treatment can lead to waterborne illnesses.
Corrective Action: Securely cover well within pumphouse. Lock down bypass valve in treatment room.

Observation: Chlorine residual in drinking water from kitchen tap was measured above 3 ppm. Public health significance - high levels of chlorine can negatively affect odour and taste of drinking water, which may lead residents to use alternative sources of water that are unsafe.
Corrective Action: Chlorine residual should be maintained between 0.2 - 2 ppm within the distribution system.
