301   Operator has Foodsafe or Equivalent (Sec 10 (1))
Observation: Owner/operator does not have a BC Foodsafe Level 1 certificate, or equivalent.
Corrective Action: It is a regulatory requirement that the owner/operator of a food service establishment must have a BC Foodsafe Level 1 certificate, or equivalent.
302   One staff has Foodsafe in Operators absence (Sec 10 (2))
Observation: No staff on-site at time of inspection, had a BC Foodsafe Level 1 certificate.
Corrective Action: It is a regulatory requirement, that at least one person on-site, in a supervisory position, must have a BC Foodsafe Level 1 certificate. Ensure any staff that work on their own, have Foodsafe training. Register any untrained staff for the next available Foodsafe course. 501   Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are suitable for their intended purpose (Sec 16(a)(l))
Observation: Several open cans of food (fruit, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes) observed stored in refrigerator.
Corrective Action: Food cannot be stored in open cans. Any unused food from a can, must be transferred to a food-grade container with lid. The food from the open cans was discarded at time of inspection.
507   Equipment, utensils and food surfaces are washed and sanitized (Sec 17(2))
Observation: No approved sanitizer was available, for sanitizing food contact surfaces.
Corrective Action: Provide sanitizer for wiping all food contact surfaces. Provide sanitizer in spray bottles or a bucket with clean wiping cloths. Sanitizer must provide either 100ppm chlorine or 200ppm Quats. Confirm sanitizer used and describe method of maintaining and monitoring sanitizer concentration. Submit updated Sanitation Plan (100ppm chlorine sanitizer in spray bottle was made by operator during inspection).
706   Operator has written procedures for safe and sanitary operation (Sec 24 (1))
Observation: No handwash signs were posted at handwash stations.
Corrective Action: Handwash signs must be posted at handwash sinks. Handwash signs left with operator.

Comments:

The following items noted (in compliance with Regulatory requirements):
- wall-mounted liquid handsoap and paper towel dispenser provided at handwash sink
- all refrigerating temperatures below 4C
- freezer temperature recorded below -18C
- dishwasher provided sanitizing rinse water temperature above 180F
- food in fridges well organized (covered, labelled, dated)
- no evidence if pest activity
- food and equipment stored on shelving a minimum of 6 inches up off floor
- access to on-site laundry and janitorial room provided.
