Violations:
A summary of the violations found during the inspection are listed below.

Code   Description / Observation / Corrective Action
101   Repeat Improper Water Chemistry/Water Clarity
Observation: The alkalinity of the hot tub was tested and measured at 12 ppm after partially redraining the hot tub. Public Health Significance - Pool alkalinity must be maintained at a level between 80-120 ppm to prevent the formation of cloudy water as well as prevent dramatic swings in pH.
Corrective Action: Raise and maintain the alkalinity concentration in the hot tub to within the regulatory requirements.
101  Critical Improper Water Chemistry/Water Clarity
Observation: pH was measured at 8.19 after partially draining and refilling water. pH above 7.8 can lead to irritation as well as reduce the effectiveness of the disinfectant.
Corrective Action: Adjust and maintain pH within regulatory requirement.
101  Critical Improper Water Chemistry/Water Clarity
Observation: The free available chlorine was measured above 10 ppm. Public Health Significance - Chlorine levels above 10 ppm can lead to severe eye or skin irritation of pool patrons.
Corrective Action: Partially drain the pool water to reduce the chlorine level. Monitor and maintain free available chlorine levels above 1.5 ppm at all times, and below 10 ppm.
104   Repeat Improper Turnover of Flow Rate
Observation: Sand particles altered the movement of the float within the hot tub flow meter at the time of inspection. The operator has ordered new flow meters and is waiting for them to be delivered. Public Health Significance - Flow meters must be free of sand particles to obtain an accurate flow measurement to ensure the required number of turnovers are met as per the pool construction requirements. Flow rate meters are also important to ensure that the main drains and skimmers are not suction hazards that could lead to drowning.
Corrective Action: Replace or service the pool flow meter and install so that the required straight pipe before and after the flow rate meter is in accordance with manufacturer requirements. Monitor and clean flow meter on a regular basis.
305   Repeat Improper Maintenance of Pool Surface, Walkways, Floors and/or Construction
Observation: Skimmer's weirs were found to be missing. Operator informed Northern Health that their supplier has the weirs in stock and should be easy to replace. Public Health significance - Weirs are important to prevent debris captured in the skimmer from re-entering the pool.
Corrective Action: Skimmer's weir must be properly installed to effectively remove contaminant from the surface of the water.
307   Improper Storage of Chemicals
Observation: Calcium hypochlorite (chlorine) was stored in close proximity to acidic pool products (pH down) in a small and poorly ventilated room during inspection. Public Health Significance - Chlorine products must be stored separately from acidic products to prevent the formation of poisonous gases.
Corrective Action: Store calcium hypochlorite separately from pH down.
