Violations:
A summary of the violations found during the inspection are listed below.
Code | Description / Observation / Corrective Action |
101 | Critical Improper Water Chemistry/Water Clarity Observation: Combine Chlorine was measured at 1.09 ppm, re-test showed a concentration of 0.99 ppm. Pools are required to keep combined chlorine levels at less than 1 ppm. High combined chlorine can irritate the eye and skin and lowers the effectiveness of chlorine disinfectants. Corrective Action: Operator closed pool and plans to shock chlorinate pool to reduce combined chlorine levels to less than 1 ppm. Continue to ensure testing equipment can measure chlorine levels accurately. |
104 | Improper Turnover of Flow Rate Observation: Pool water level was below the skimmer intake and was not able to keep floating weir at a 45º angle. At least 50% of the flow of the pool is designed to pass through the skimmer intake. This ensures that organic materials on the pool surface can be removed and reduces suction of the main drain. Organic material can increase the combined chlorine levels and carry harmful microbes. High suction from the main drain can result in suction hazard. Corrective Action: Operator to ensure static water level covers half skimmer intake and weir can float at a 45º angle. |
205 | Improper Monitoring of Chemical Paramaters or Safety Tests Observation: The electronic meter HydroQuant 610 operator was using to measure pool chemistry was inaccurate. Operator used the Taylor test kit on site and it was able to give accurate results. Inaccurate results prevent operators from monitoring and adjusting pool chemistry properly to ensure pool water is safe for swimmers. Corrective Action: Operators continue to use Taylor test kit for pool chemistry monitoring. Electronic meter should be calibrated or replaced before it can be used for testing. |
305 | Improper Maintenance of Pool Surface, Walkways, Floors and/or Construction Observation: Floating weir was missing from one skimmer intake. Floating weirs skims off pool surface debris from the environment or swimmers into the skimmer, such as hair, bugs and oil, and preventing them from returning to the pool basin. These organic debris can carry harmful pathogen and increase combined chlorine levels. Corrective Action: Operator to install floating weir at skimmer intake. |
