Violations:
A summary of the violations found during the inspection are listed below.
Code | Description / Observation / Corrective Action |
101 | Critical Repeat Improper Water Chemistry/Water Clarity Observation: The chemical testing for the hot tub was performed at 4:00 pm. The test results revealed high combine chlorine levels of 1.2 ppm and high pH level of >8.4. pH must be maintained at 7.2 -7.8 with a goal of achieving 7.4. Normal pH range for the hot tub water is 7.2 -7.8 and when the pH is above 7.8 it decreases the effectiveness of chlorine as a disinfectant and may cause eye and skin irritation to the patrons. Combined chlorine levels above 1 ppm can cause skin and eye irritation, dryness, and itchiness. Additionally, it can lead to respiratory problems when the chlorine is inhaled in the form of vapour or mist and skin issues in pool patrons. Corrective Action: This is a critical hazard and the hot tub remains closed until the water is shock chlorinated/completely drained and chemical parameters are readjusted. The combined chlorine levels must be less than 1 ppm and the range for optimal pH levels must fall between 7.2 to 7.8 |
103 | Improper Pool Temperature Observation: The temperature of hot tub was measured at 41.1° C. High temperature above 40° may cause drowsiness, which may lead to unconsciousness and, possibly, drowning. Corrective Action: Operator mentioned the temperature setting on the heater was set to maximum. The operator decreased the temperature and will ensure it is maintained at or below 40° C |
