Observation: Improper use of chemicals and hot tub equipment. Hot tub is equipped with the erosion feeder, Pentair Rainbow Model 320 Automatic Cl/Br In-line Feeder. Manufacturer instructions clearly indicate that only unstabilized Triclor or Bromine tablets can be used with the feeder. Under no circumstances, can calcium hypochlorite be used. In addition, calcium hypochlorite cannot be mixed with any other chemical. Operator is using calcium hypochlorite tablets with the chemical feeder.
Corrective Action: Immediately cease use of calcium hypochlorite in the chemical feeder. Ensure only unstabilized Triclor or Bromine tablets are used with this feeder. In addition, make sure calcium hypochlorite is not mixed with any other chemicals. Hot tub must remain closed until the proper chemicals are purchased. Hot tub cannot be re-opened until a follow-up inspection is conducted by the Environmental Health Officer.
