Violations:
A summary of the violations found during the inspection are listed below.
Code | Description / Observation / Corrective Action |
101 | Improper Water Chemistry/Water Clarity Observation: Observed that water chemistry parameteres such as total chlorine (8.33ppm), comined chlorine (4.36ppm), alkalinity (66ppm) and pH (6.86) were either low or high as compared to the recommended levels levels. These results were confirmed using a pool test kit. Public health significance - High chlorine levels decrease the pH of your pool's water, making it more acidic. Combined chlorine levels above 1 ppm can cause skin and eye irritation, dryness, and itchiness. Additionally, it can lead to respiratory problems when the chlorine is inhaled in the form of vapour or mist and skin issues in the patrons. Alkalinity levels should be between 80-120ppm to help the pool water resist rapid changes in pH. Normal pH range for the hot tub water is 7.2 -7.8 and when the pH is above 7.8 it decreases the effectiveness of chlorine as a disinfectant and may cause eye and skin irritation to the patrons. Corrective Action: The hot tub was immediately shut down and made unavailble for use to the public. Operator to drain and refil the pool and adjust water chemistry. |
104 | Improper Turnover of Flow Rate Observation: The flow rate for hot tub was noted at 18gpm at the time of inspection which accounts for 1 turnover per hour which is exceeding the required maximum turnover period of 30 minutes. High turnover rate can lead to poor filteration of the hot tub as well as imbalanced pool chemistry posing a risk for the patrons. Corrective Action: Operator to ensure that the pump is working efficiently to maintain designed flowv rate and achieve the required turnover rate. |
