Observation: pH tested at 7.94 and total alkalinity tested at 76 mg/L. Free available chlorine and total chlorine were at concentrations too high that both the Palintest kit and the operator's test kit could not read the concentrations. As a result, the combined chlorine could not be determined.
Corrective Action: Close the hot tub and add make-up water to the hot tub to rebalance the water. Ensure FAC and total chlorine is lowered so that the combined chlorine can be tested. FAC levels >10 ppm can cause irritation to bathers. Maintain the pH between 7.2 - 7.8 and total alkalinity between 80-120ppm. Maintain total alkalinity within this range to help reduce pH bounce.
