Violations:
A summary of the violations found during the inspection are listed below.
Code | Description / Observation / Corrective Action |
101 | Improper Water Chemistry/Water Clarity Observation: The total alkalinity of the lap pool was measured to be 57 ppm and 61 ppm at two different test location. The average total alkalinity was calculated as 59 ppm, which is less than the required 80 – 120 ppm. (Health Significance) – Total alkalinity acts as a buffer for pH. At low total alkalinity, pH can bounce, making it unstable and difficult to maintain. Rapid drops in pH may cause corrosion (etching) of pool and skin/eye irritation of bathers. Corrective Action: Ensure total alkalinity is maintained between 80 – 120 ppm. |
205 | Improper Monitoring of Chemical Paramaters or Safety Tests Observation: Some of the pool reagents for the Taylor test kit were past their expiry date. (Significance) - Expired reagents can give inaccurate results when used to test water chemistry (ie. pH, free chlorine, etc.) and must be replaced before their expiry date. Corrective Action: Ensure test kits are maintained, and reagents are replaced before expiration. |
