Violations:
A summary of the violations found during the inspection are listed below.
Code | Description / Observation / Corrective Action |
101 | Critical Improper Water Chemistry/Water Clarity Observation: The ph was found to be greater than 8.4. According to the BC Pool Regulation, the pH must be between 7.2 and 7.8. Public Health Significance - High pH levels can cause eye irritation, cloudy water, scale formation, short filter runs, and decreased effectiveness of chlorine Corrective Action: Lower the pH level and maintain it between 7.2 and 7.8 |
101 | Improper Water Chemistry/Water Clarity Observation: The Free Available Chlorine was found to be at 0 ppm - According to the BC Pool Regulation, the minimum amount of FAC in pools with temperature greater than 30 C must be 1.5 ppm. However, it is recommended to have the FAC for hot tubs maintained between 3 and 5 ppm. This is to ensure that bacteria and viruses are killed and cannot grow in the pool. The pool was closed immediately by the operator and a sign was posted to inform the public. Corrective Action: Raise the FAC to greater than 1.5 ppm - Test the FAC to verify that it is greater than 1.5 ppm before reopening the pool. |
