Violations:
A summary of the violations found during the inspection are listed below.
Code | Description / Observation / Corrective Action |
101 | Critical Improper Water Chemistry/Water Clarity Observation: Chlorine levels exceeded 5 ppm and could not be measured with our pool testing equipment. Our chlorine sanitizer test strips measured chlorine at ~50-100 ppm of chlorine. These are levels meant for dishwashers and surface sanitizers. Health effects have been found in animals when exposed to levels exceeding 10 ppm chlorine. Corrective Action: Hot tub must be closed immediately and drained. It can only be reopened when water chemistry is balanced, free of other critical issues, and approved by a health inspector. |
104 | Critical Improper Turnover of Flow Rate Observation: Flow meter and pressure gauge on hot-tub sand filter doesn't appear to be working. The flow meter determines when to backwash and identifies problems with the pool circulation system. Corrective Action: Install a working flow meter and pressure gauge. This is a repeat violation. Have this done by a professional if needed. |
203 | Inadequate or Lack of up-to-date Pool Safety Plan Observation: There is no pool data sheet detailing the specification and equipment of the pool. This information identifies how to run the pool optimally, for example what the flow rate of the pool should be. Corrective Action: Complete a pool data sheet either by staff, previous records, or have it assessed by a professional. |
205 | Improper Monitoring of Chemical Paramaters or Safety Tests Observation: Hot tub is not being tested for pool chemistry and monitored only by the automated system. The automated system can fail, not be calibrated, or give inaccurate readings. You cannot depend on it entirely. All pools must still be tested using appropriate pool test kits to identify potential hazards. Corrective Action: Test the hot tub and pool using the Colour-Q test kit twice daily using non-expired reagents. Do not use test strips as these are not accurate enough for commercial pool use. |
208 | Improper Maintenance of Records Observation: Combined chlorine is not tested twice daily according to regulations. Combined chlorine tests are different from free chlorine tests. Combined chlorine exceeding 1 ppm can irritate swimmers and warrents closure of the pool. Corrective Action: Begin monitoring combined chlorine levels in addition to other tests twice daily. |
