| 101 | Repeat Improper Water Chemistry/Water Clarity Observation: Hot tub total alkalinity was measured at 55 ppm. Re-testing resulted in 40 ppm. Regulation requires an alkalinity of 80 ppm to 120 ppm. A low total alkalinity would result in pH bounce, where pH would fluctuate, affecting the disinfection ability of chlorine. Chlorine disinfection is necessary to limit growth of harmful microbes in hot tub. Corrective Action: Operator to adjust alkalinity so it remains between 80 ppm to 120 ppm. Continue to monitor alkalinity at least once a week. |
