Violations:
A summary of the violations found during the inspection are listed below.
Code | Description / Observation / Corrective Action |
101 | Improper Water Chemistry/Water Clarity Observation: pH was measured at 8.18 during inspection. Records kept by operator indicate that the pH has regularly been measured at 8.0. Public Health significance - pH above 7.8 can cause eye and skin irritation to pool patrons, and also reduces effectiveness of disinfectant in pool water. Corrective Action: pH must be kept within the regulatory range of 7.2 to 7.8 pH. |
102 | Critical Improper Microbiological Pool Water Quality Observation: Pseudomonas was detected in the most recent microbiological pool water sample taken. Operator was aware at the time of inspection and had already closed the whirlpool and begun cleaning procedure. Public Health significance - Pseudomonas in pool water can lead to outbreaks of skin and eye infections in pool patrons. Corrective Action: Follow cleaning procedures provided by Northern Health for treating Pseudomonas aeruginosa in hot tubs. After cleaning, resample pool water and submit to Northern Health. |
203 | Inadequate or Lack of up-to-date Pool Safety Plan Observation: No pool data sheets or pool safety plan readily available. A pool safety plan and data sheet outlines the care-taking and maintenance of the pool in the event of contamination or emergency. Corrective Action: Complete the previously provided pool safety plan and data sheet template and provide a copy to Northern Health for filing. Have a copy available on site for reference. |
305 | Improper Maintenance of Pool Surface, Walkways, Floors and/or Construction Observation: Automatic controller for adjusting pool waters pH and ORP was not functional at the time of inspection. Automated feeder for chlorine is operational, but acid must also be used to prevent pH from becoming too high. Operator is working with contractor to have this resolved. Corrective Action: Ensure that all components of the pool's construction are kept in good repair and functional. |
