This facility is currently under a Water Quality Advisory
 Underlying Problems: 1) The water quality results provided in June 2022, and included in the Western Water Associates Ltd. (WWAL) report, indicate that the water is not suitable for drinking without treatment due to Iron, Manganese, and Turbidity exceedances, as per Health Canada’s Drinking Water Guidelines.
2) Treatment for the above mentioned parameters are not installed.
3) A timeline for installation of treatment has not yet been provided to the EHO. | |
| Steps Taken to Remedy: No corrective actions taken as of advisory issuance date. Operator is aware that the manganese levels of the well water (0.441 ppm) exceeds the Canadian Guidelines for Drinking Water Quality Maximum Allowable Concentration (MAC) of 0.12 ppm. | |
| Corrective Actions Remaining: 1) Operator to draft a water quality advisory notice for Manganese and send the draft to Northern Health for review, prior to distribution to the users of the water system by August 26 2022
2) Submit a timeline of treatment installation to address high iron, manganese and turbidity levels and submit a construction permit for the proposed treatment. The construction permit or an update on the status of the treatment installation must be provided by August 31 2022
3) Have the treatment professionally installed after a construction permit is issued.
4) Have the treatment system inspected by an Environmental Health Officer. |
