This facility is currently under a Water Quality Advisory

Underlying Problems: Health Canada established a Maximum Acceptable Concentration (MAC) for manganese in drinking water of 0.12 mg/L. The Pineview Improvement District draws its water from two deep wells. Test results show that the Improvement Districts groundwater wells have between 0.554 to 0.619 mg/L of manganese; the level depends on which wells are pumping and for how long.
Steps Taken to Remedy: The Pineview Improvement District has issued a Water Quality Advisory about the levels of manganese in its drinking water supply. The Pineview Improvement District recommends using bottled water, for preparing baby formula for infants and food or drinks for young children and for adults wishing to consider other sources of drinking water. The Pineview Improvement District tests each well as part of its Water Quality Monitoring Program.
Corrective Actions Remaining: Notify all the water users of the high manganese level and updated water quality advisory (Completed Jan 13 2023). Determine a plan of action and work with Northern Health on the institution of treatment to lower levels below the Maximum Allowable Concentration (0.12mg/L) as prescribed by the Canadian Drinking Water Guidelines (In progress)
