Violations:
A summary of the violations found during the inspection are listed below.

Code   Description / Observation / Corrective Action
311  Critical Other (specify below)
Observation: The hand pump is located in very close proximity to Kinaskan Lake (~30 feet) and may be under the direct influence of surface water (GUDI).
Corrective Action: A hydrogeological assessment is required to be performed in order to determine if there is a direct hydraulic connection between the groundwater source & the lake. If it is determined that this source is under the direct influence of surface water, disinfection of the source will be required or an alternate source of drinking water found.
314   Improper maintenance of distribution system
Observation: A funnel is available for public use next to the hand pump (hanging on a tree).
Corrective Action: Since the funnel could become contaminated and since it is unlikely that the funnel is being sanitized on an ongoing basis, it should be removed.
317   Inadequate or improper construction of water works
Observation: The seal at the bottom of the hand pump, where it meets the concrete pad, appears to be broken. The drain is draining very slowly and causing water to pool around the bottom of the hand pump.
Corrective Action: These conditions could potentially allow the entry of contaminants into the water supply.
318   Inadequate Microbiological Analysis data
Observation: Our records indicate that the last water sample (bacteriological) submitted to an approved lab for testing was in August 2004. A condition on this water system's Operating Permit is that bacteriological sampling is required a week before start-up each season, and minimum monthly throughout the operating season.
Corrective Action: Ensure Operating Permit condition is met.
