Violations:
A summary of the violations found during the inspection are listed below.
Code | Description / Observation / Corrective Action |
309 | Critical Cross connection Observation: Cross connection found in the kitchen where the well source and the lake source connect with a pipe. A valve stops the lake water from entering the kitchen. The lake water is currently untreated and can introduce contaminants into the kitchen. Corrective Action: If the lake water is no longer treated, a plumber may be required to remove the cross connection and to cut and cap the pipe connected to the lake source. |
316 | Source unprotected and subject to contamination Observation: Well is covered with a wooden box and the opening is plugged with plastic wrap. The previous well casing was removed and never replaced. The current measures do not protect the well from environmental contamination nor vandalism. Corrective Action: Ensure the is protected by a casing, has a 30 cm stick up, and sealed/locked to protect from contamination. The soil must also be mounded away from the well to avoid water seeping down the side of the well. |
319 | Inadequate Chemical Analysis Data Observation: No record of chemical analysis of the water done in the last 5 years. The water chemistry test identifies chemical contaminants that can cause health risks such as lead, mercury, and manganese. Corrective Action: Refer to the attached list of provincially approved labs and contact one of them for a chemical analysis. |
320 | Other (specify below) Observation: No trained operator on site present to manage and maintain the system. Corrective Action: The water system must have a trained operator on site. The operator must take the TRU watersafe course or an equivalent training course. |
