| 314 | Improper maintenance of distribution system Observation: Significant scale build-up at the tap routinely used for water sampling. Public Health Significance: build-up on the mesh filter can allow for bacteria growth to be harboured. This can directly impact human health and may be the cause of positive bacterial growth in samples taken. Corrective Action: Soak the tap head in an acid, such as CLR or vinegar, until all of the scale has broken down. Then rinse the head and soak it for 10 minutes in a bleach solution (approximately 1/10 dilution in water). Do not allow scale to build-up by performing regular maintenance. |
