Violations:
A summary of the violations found during the inspection are listed below.
Code | Description / Observation / Corrective Action |
318 | Inadequate Microbiological Analysis data Observation: Each connected residence is required to submit a sample for bacteriological analysis at least twice a year. The last sample from one of the residences is from July 2024, and for the others from November 2023. Additionally, a sample of the untreated water from the well (Brandt Brook) must be submitted twice a year and the last sample submitted is from August 2023. Corrective Action: Permit condition requires 1 sample per month from this water system as a whole; however, this has been adjusted to 1 sample from each connected residence and 1 sample from the source (untreated water) twice a year in April & October (i.e., 6 samples twice a year), and the permit condition has been amended to reflect this. To ensure current data on the bacteriological quality is available, a set of samples must be submitted by the end of June 2025. |
319 | Inadequate Chemical Analysis Data Observation: Permit condition requires a sample for general chemical analysis be submitted once every 3 years. While the permit condition doesn't state whether this is to be a raw or treated sample, this should be an untreated (raw) sample from the well (Brandt Brook) so that changes in water quality over time can be monitored. If water quality significantly changes, the Point-of-Entry treatment systems may need to be upgraded to ensure they are capable of providing potable water. The last full general chemical analysis report provided was for a sample taken on March 20, 2018. Corrective Action: A sample for general chemical analysis must be submitted of the untreated water from the well (Brandt Brook). While this can be done anytime before the Correct By Date, it's recommended this be done in the fall as this is likely when water quality will be at it worst and this data may therefore be more useful for evaluating the Point-of-Entry treatment systems. When available, a copy of the test report must be forwarded to an Environmental Health Officer with Northern Health by the Correct By Date. Going forward, a general chemical analysis of the untreated water from the well (Brandt Brook) must be done once every 5 years, and the permit condition has been amended to reflect this. |
320 | Other (specify below) Observation: A remote inspection of this water system was conducted on 5-Jun-2025. An on-site inspection was not conducted by an Environmental Health Officer. Corrective Action: N/A |
