A summary of the violations found during the inspection are listed below.

Code   Description
308  Critical Contamination of finished water - Mains
Observation: Sample results from May 5, 2016 samples were positive for E.coli and Total Coliform (Kitchen Tap – 39 TC and 26 E.coli, Shower Room Tap – 32 TC and 30 E.coli). Sample results from May 9, 2016 samples were also overgrown. This water is not considered potable and therefore is unsafe for drinking purposes.
Corrective Action: Boil Water Notice was placed on the camp by Dr. Raina Fumerton on May 7, 2016. At present, no one has reported illness. Notify the EHO of any illnesses that arise in camp. Operator is currently bringing in bottled water for drinking. The Boil Water Notice will not be lifted until two sets of satisfactory bacteriological samples are collected no less than 24 hours apart.
320   Other (specify below)
Observation: With E.coli counts like those seen in the May 5, 2016 samples, there was unlikely any chlorine in the system at all during start up. Also, it was determined both samples from May 5, 2016 were both taken from the Shower Room Tap sampling site and by two different people. There is clearly inadequate training of onsite staff assigned to the operation and maintenance tasks of the drinking water system.
Corrective Action: Develop an operational guideline that staff can follow that covers proper set up and maintenance of the water system along with how to sample properly. Only staff that have received proper training and are knowledgeable in the treatment and maintenance procedures of the water system should be operating said water system.
