The following areas were reviewed:

Comments

During today’s inspection the 8 staff and 35 children were on site between three of the 4 licensed programs. Licensing observed the following:
Licensing notes that the facility has implemented systems to help staff provide quality care to children including; head count sheets, clear posted care plans, nap schedules and documentation art posted for families to see what types of programming occurs at the facility.
Children were participating in outdoor time, gym time as well as lunch.
The walls in all three programs have had a recent update and look very appealing.

Reviewed and/or Discussed at time of this inspection with the Licensee:
· Staff’s certificates have been validated
· Active Play and Screen Use Policies (discussed including no screen time to children under 2 years) have been created, implemented and provided to the parents
· A current staffing exemption is in place- expires March 23, 2018
· Fire Drills and Emergency drill documentation sheets have been updated.
· A new playground project is in the works, licensing discussed once the project is ready to inform licensing of work dates, including an outdoor play plan while area is under construction and lastly the new play area will need an inspection prior to use. Please feel free to contact licensing during the planning stage.

Licensing observed in the infant room usable floor space appears to be effected by furnishings used for storage (large storage cupboard in the kitchen area) and three tables and chairs that are mainly used for meal times and the occational table activity. These items seem to be reducing the useable floor space available for the children, as Licensing observed during play time that children only had access to activities that were set up on one side of the room. As well as licensing notes that there is no provisions or activities in the under 36 month program (indoors) that encourages the gross motor skills. Discussed the potential to add a loft structure (to promote Physical Literacy) and tables that would fit into the space to allow for more areas increase play opportunities.

Resources provided today include;
· Immunization Posters
