Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: LO observed and discussed the following with the Manager:
Outdoor Play Area: A missing fence (approximately 5ft x 6ft). Currently this area is enclosed by approximately 4ft height chicken wire mesh and orange plastic safety fence. This is temporary barrier/fence and should be replaced with a permanent fixture.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care.

Comments

At this inspection dated January 16, 2024 there were 14 children, 3 staff and a practicum student present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to provide a written response by below date for Licensing's review, including how areas found to be in noncompliance are addressed. The contravention noted in this report were reviewed with the Manager during today's inspection. This inspection report and thr risk assessment were completed onsite and emailed to the facility.

LO observed and discussed the following with the Manager today:
- To keep a log for outdoor play areas for all inspections, repairs and maintenance
- First Aid: to replenish the first aid kit with extra supplies
- Care plans
- Emergency supplies: ensure to have sufficient supplies onsite
- Children's file
- Diaper changing mat storage
