Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: During inpection licensing checked 5 children's files and one file was missing emergency contact information.

Corrective Action(s): Please ensure children's file are complete.

Comments

At this inspection there were 11 children and three staff present. Licensing conducted a walk-through of the entire facility. The above noted contraventions were identified.
The following were discussed with the manager:
· Maintaining children records.
· Accessibility and contents of the Earthquake Emergency Kit.
· Verification of references for all staff before they start work.
· Use of masks when staff are unable to physically distance with other staff to mitigate the risk of Covid19 transmission.
· Storage of toys and equipment in a manner that does not pose a risk to children in an event of an earthquake.

The following resources were provided:
• 2 Reportable Incident forms
The inspection report was written off-site – details were reviewed with the manager prior to writing the report. A copy of the routine inspection report and risk assessment sent to manager via email on January 28, 2021.
