Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed:

· Nutrition and Food Services

As part of the routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection -
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12190 - CCLR s.22(2)(b) - A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.
Observation: There was one month that the fire drill was not conducted in one of the group program.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure fire drills are conducted monthly

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19220 - CCLR s.58(1)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Observation: There are some children that required care plan
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure care plan is developed in consultation with the parent, that include any relevant diagnosis and intervention/strategies to best support the child.

Comments

Active Play and Screen Use Policy is available.
Licensing discussed that Reporting incidents, flushing out of lead in water and Active Supervision.
Licensing observed children engage in outdoor time as well as lunch time routine.
Promotion of inclusion language is evident throughout.
System is in place to ensure staff files are up to date, Licensing discussed CRC for staffing.
During today's inspection, discussion regarding possible temporary placement/exemption was discussed for the 3-5 GDC, the request would be for fall, either October or November to allow for additional children under 36 months of age. The application will be forwarded in the following weeks.
Although written response is not required, the coded violations will be required to be addressed. Please ensure that the Licensee contact is made aware of this report.
