Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR), and the Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: -During inspection licensing observed the lights were out in the stairway used by the children in care to access the rooftop playground. It was dark in the stairs. This poses a concern for evacuation purposes.
-During inspection licensing observed a leak from the ceiling in Classroom #7. The leak occured on day that the facility was closed. Facility had not informed licensing of the leak. The room is not currently in use, however, the room will not be available for use until the repair work is complete.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to provide a healthy and safe environment.

Summary of Inspection:
During today’s inspection, there were 18 children, 9 staff and the facility manger present.
At this inspection the above contraventions were identified. Written response is required.
The following was discussed:

BCCDC guidance for mask use.
Discussion regarding requirement to inform licensing of reportable incidents.
