Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: A valid criminal record check is not available for a person who lives at this address.
Corrective Action(s): All persons over the age of 12 who live on the premise must have a valid criminal record check.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: There is no fire extinguisher in the facility. The manager stated it has been taken for servicing and will be picked up this weekend.
Corrective Action(s): Please make sure a fire extinguisher with a current inspection decal is available in the facility at all times.

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated February 11, 2022 there was one child and one staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this routine inspection, a facility risk assessment tool is completed and a copy is provided. This report was reviewed with the manager and written off site. A copy of this report will be emailed to the manager. Time spent includes office time.

· Ensuring all Covid-19 policies are still being folloewd.
· Visit the CCFL website at www.fraserhealth.ca/childcare for additional resources and links to the Legislation (CCALA and CCLR).
