Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation: The downstairs washroom in the 3-5 program had cleaning products in an unlocked cabinet.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure children do not have access to any substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

Comments

At this inspection there were 54 children and 13 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. Action required by the manager include a written response addressing the contravention and action required by the LO will be to review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following were discussed with the manager:
A system to ensure there is enough supplies (food and water) for 72 hours for all staff and children
Updating children's allergy list and care plans
ECE certificate expiry dates
The facility's termination of care policy

The contents of this report was discussed with the manager and a copy was emailed on June 4, 2021.
