Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted on to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing observed the following:
- 1 outlet in the nap room (located above a nap mat) was not covered
- Wall located near the entrance of the main play room has water damage around the light switch and lower down. The drywall is soft to the touch, cracking and the paint starting to peel
Corrective Action(s): Please enusre the wall is repaired and painted. Please ensure that the environment is healthy and safe for all children in care.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11190 - CCLR s.16(4)(b) - A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation: Licensing observed a 'play stove' that was cracked and broken
Corrective Action(s): Please repair, replace, or remove the broken items.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: Licensing reviewed the daily attendance records and noted that there was no record taken for today.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure is recorded daily.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: Licensing reviewed 5 childrens files of which the following was found:
- 1 file was missing the name and phone number of a medical practitioner
- 1 file was missing an emergency contact
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that all children's files are complete and up to date.

Comments

At the inspection on March 09, 2022 there were 4 children and 1 staff present.
At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed off site and a copy was provided.
