Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12090 - CCLR s.19(1)(f) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation: Immunization status was not obtained for two employees.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that staff immunization status are included on file.

Comments

At the inspection dated Sept. 22, 2021 there were 19 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection, the above noted contravention was identified. Actions required by the licensee includes a written response by Sept. 27, 2021.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

A COVID-19 Risk Screening was also completed.

A business card was provided to the facility.

*Licensing was previously on-site on Sept. 03, 2021. However, the routine inspection could not be conducted, as the facility appeared to be closed and staff/children were not on-site.

The following education/recommendations/discussions were provided:
- Reportable Incident procedures
- Continue using the incident log book for documentation
- Removing items with a DIN/NPN number in the first aid kit
- Hand-washing procedures
- Continue to follow the COVID-19 policy
- Continue to clean and sanitize the facility including toys and equipment
