Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Upon inspection, there were many heavy items and toys stored on top on ledges and on shelving units that pose a fall hazard.

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated January 22, 2020 there were 4 children and 1 staff present. Licensee stated that there are 6 children registered in the program. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee will provide Licensing with a written response. Licensing will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

Licensing conducted a walk-through of the entire facility.

A discussion was had about medication forms for diaper cremes.
Licensee stated that the large climber in the yard will be removed in the summer time and the landscaping ties will be maintained.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Promoting Active Play in the program
· Active Supervision
· Lead in the Water
