HAZARD RATING FOR YOUR FACILITY: High (≥30) Total Score = 31
Critical Hazards: Total Number: 1
401 - Adequate handwashing stations not available for employees [s. 21(4)]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Handsink was observed to have been removed from its' location near the pizza oven, and it had been replaced with a burner oven without health approval.
Corrective Action(s): Operator temporarily used the 2-compartment sink for handwashing, and retained a plumber to re-install the handsink today. Handsink was observed to have been re-installed next to the pizza prep. cooler (in the same location as the previously health approved floor plan) and it was supplied with hot and cold running water, liquid soap, and paper towels.
.
Do not make any changes to the floor plan without health approval. Ensure the designated handsink remains accessible for handwashing purposes, conveniently located near all food handling areas, and properly supplied with liquid soap, hot and cold running water, and single-use paper towels to enable proper handwashing practices. Repeat violations will result in enforcement action.
Violation Score: 25

Non-Critical Hazards: Total Number: 2
308 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are not in good working order [s. 16(b)]
Observation: Wall-mounted liquid soap and wall-mounted paper towel dispenser were not available at the designated handsink. Splash-guards were not available at the handsink, and the burner oven had been located in close proximity to it.
Corrective Action(s): Install a wall-mounted liquid soap, a wall-mounted paper towel dispenser, and splash-guards at the designated handsink; Correct within 2 weeks. In the interim, continue storing liquid soap and paper towels in the portable dispensers near the handsink basin.
Violation Score: 3

311 - Premises not maintained as per approved plans [s. 6(1)(b)]
Observation: Operator had re-located the burner cooking equipment to an area below the existing ventilation canopy hood, which is also used for the pizza oven.
Corrective Action(s): It was discussed that the Operator is to first confirm with the City of Surrey regarding ventilation requirements above the cooking equipment (proposed for curries and roti), and provide a written confirmation from the City of Surrey regarding this to the Environmental Health Officer.
.
It was discussed that adequate clearance is needed between the cooking equipment and handsink to ensure that the handsink remains accessible for convenient handwashing, and to ensure that food on the cooking equipment (if approved for use) remains protected from any potential contamination, while also ensuring the handsink is conveniently located near all food handling areas. An updated food safety plan is required to be submitted for health review and health approval for any new additions of menu items (e.g. curries/tiffin service) prior to commencing the sale/service of curries.
.
Ensure to contact the Environmental Health Officer to apply for and obtain written floor plan health approval prior to making any changes to the previously health approved floor plan.
Violation Score: 3
