Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officers observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed:

· Nutrition and Food Services

· Records and Reporting
As part of the Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operational environment

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): the small row boat is tipped up against the fence, it is not secured and can fall on the children
Corrective Action(s): the licensee laid the boat down on the ground

STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: the licensee's children are over 12 and visit in the day-care and do not have a CRC
Corrective Action(s): please ensure a CRC is done for any person who is ordinarily present in the facility

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: record of fire drills is not current, march,aprill may and June not recorded, licensee stated they were completed

Corrective Action(s): please ensure fire drills are conducted and completed
