Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed:

· Polices & Procedures
· Care & Supervision
· Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control
· Medication
· Nutrition and Food Services
· Program
· Records and Reporting
As part of the routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR # have been corrected except for those noted on supplementary pages.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12460 - CCLR s.60(3)(b) - A licensee must keep (b) in any other case, all criminal record check results and character references for the entire time that the subject of the criminal record check or character reference is ordinarily present on the premises.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Two staff files were reviewed. They appeared organized and complete except that one staff's reference check was missing. This staff only have one reference letter from file. The licensee stated that this staff has more than one reference and they were kept at another location .
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that each staff has at least two references and kept on site in file.

1. A staff's criminal record check was done for their school. Please ensure that the facility applies a criminal record check for their staff once they have hired.

LIVE 5210 starter kit was provided and discussed. New Standard of practice - Active Play and Licensing Regulation were discussed.

Licensing observed children waking up from nap, snack time and outdoor play time.

The facility has variety of montessori materials available for children. The facility is kept in good repair and sanitary condition.
