Introduction

A scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). Today’s inspection focused on the physical facility and health and hygiene systems to ensure the safety of children during Covid-19 pandemic crisis.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: Licensing staff observed that a staff working on site today did not have a valid Criminal Records Clearance (CRC) on file. This contravention was also observed during last routine inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure staff files are complete. A staff cannot be left alone to work with children until a copy of CRC is obtained from Criminal Records Review Agency.
Date to be Corrected: Please submit a supervision plan by June 11, 2020.


Comments

At the inspection dated June 10, 2020, there were five children in attendance with one staff. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed. A response in writing is required to be submitted to Licensing by June 15, 2020, outlining how the contravention(s) have been addressed.
Covid-19 prevention strategies, daily health check & the requirement of posting a safety plan was discussed today. Covid-19 resources/posters were shared with the staff today.
This inspection report was written off site. A copy of inspection report and the risk assessment will be mailed to the facility. Licensing staff completed Risk Screening –Covid -19 prior to this inspection.
