Introduction

An Unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing observed the following:
- 1 outlet was missing a cover in Room 7 (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION)
- 4 Ceiling tiles in the children's bathroom for room # 8 are missing and a wire hanging down

Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the environment is safe and healthy for children at all times while under the supervision of employees. The tiles above the toilet should be replaced in order to cover the wire.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: licensing observed the following:
- Washroom used by children in room #8 is out of order
- Outdoor sandbox is in poor repair, with rotting wood and nails sticking out
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that the washroom alotted for the children in room 8 is repaired. Manager stated that the children are sharing stalls with students from the education program. Children need to have access to the toilet that is alotted to them to ensure health and saftey.

Please ensure that the sandbox is repaired, replaced, or removed as it poses a healthy and safety risk to children.

Comments

At the inspection on January 19, 2022 there were 15 children, 5 staff and 1 manager.
At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed off site and a copy was provided.
