309 - Chemicals, cleansers, & similar agents stored or labeled improperly [s. 27]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Quat sanitizer is in use for sanitizing coffee urns and countertops. Staff have been diluting this product at well in excess of 400ppm (approximately 500 - 1000x dilution required to bring into range of 200-400ppm).
Corrective Action(s): Diluted to 200ppm during inspection. This was discussed at the initial inspection for the store - either a quat sanitizer dispenser must be installed for automatic dilution of this product, or bleach must be used as a sanitizer. Discussed with staff on site: mix 1 teaspoon of plain bleach to one Litre of water to make bleach sanitizer. Use this for sanitizing urns and countertops until a quats dispenser is installed and working. Contact the health department to arrange a follow-up inspection if a dispenser is installed.
Violation Score: 3
