Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: Chipped paint with exposed dry wall was observed throughout the facility at a level accessible to children.
Corrective Action(s): Please address to ensure facility is in good repair.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must have all of the following: (b) an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: Emergency supplies were assessed and found to not include water.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure emergency water is available to prepare for an emergency.

Comments

At the inspection dated December 5, 2019 there were 15 children and 6 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
Action required by the Licensee: Address contraventions and provide a written response outlining how the contraventions were addressed.
Action required by the Licensing Officer: Review written response.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was provided.
