Corrective Action(s): Inspect all food containers and ensure rodent droppings or chew marks are not present.
ANY contaminated food items, those items chewed or evidence of rodent contamination such as droppings, are to be destroyed and are not to be for human consumption.

Observation: Take out bags and containers stored on bottom shelf.
Bottom shelf is covered by rodent droppings and oats chewed by rodents.
Upper shelf near this area has evidence of rodent activity as chewed oats are present.
Sanitizer solution bottle is broken. This makes it difficult to use.

Corrective Action(s): Clean and sanitize affected areas. Use 200ppm Chlorine. Wet affected areas. Use gloves.
Discard all contaminated single use containers, bags, cups etc that are contaminated by rodents.
Obtain different container for sanitizer solution. Discussed with staff.

Observation: Ice scoops and dry goods scoops stored directly in food.

Food is being cooked in the back storage area located next to mop sink.
Food items are being stored downstairs in containers that are not pest proof.

Corrective Action(s): Scoops are to be removed from food after use. Poor practice to store scoops in bins of food
Nothing is to be stored on the floor. All food is to be stored 15 cm off floor.
Pest proof containers for dry goods are to be used.
Back area does not have a hand sink and is not an approved area for anything other than storage. Ensure all cooking related items are removed. Add all food items from basement storage into this area for long term storage. No food items should be stored downstairs at this point.

If facility does not have services of Pest Technician employ the services IMMEDIATELY.

Clean and sanitize all areas affected by rodent droppings
Remove all dishes and equipment from lower shelves until rodent infestation is eliminated.
Spray rodent droppings with 200ppm chlorine solution or equivalent. Remove droppings from area. Wet affected area with 200ppm chlorine or equivalent and soak area.
Inspect facility for points of entry for pests. Seal any holes.
Obtain services of professional pest control company.
Have additional Traps set
Alert Pest Control Company of findings and follow recommendations advised by Pest Control Company Technician.

Observation: Facility is storing oats in plastic bags and cardboard on lower shelves.
Rodents are chewing through bags of oats.

Corrective Action(s): If you are feeding rodents they will continue to infest facility. Facility operator must make better efforts to remove all food sources.

Observation: Rodent droppings found on floors and lower shelves throughout facility. Level of sanitation at facility is unacceptable.
Mould observed on internal components of ice machine
Rust observed on all sides, internal areas and shelves of under counter cooler units.
Mould observed on towels used to dry rice cooker inserts.
Items stored on floor.
Droppings found under all equipment and in electrical panel area.

Corrective Action(s): Clean and sanitize facility.
Use 200ppm Chlorine
Pull all items off shelves, thoroughly clean, remove any broken or damaged items, discard any mouldy towels.
Do not continue to dry with cloths or use cloth as dishrack for drying purposes
Ensure areas are routinely cleaned and sanitized. This includes under equipment
Coolers are to be cleaned on a daily or weekly basis.
Nothing is to be stored on floor.
Routinely clean floors. This includes under equipment and using a mop.

Observation: No staff present with FOODSAFE Level 1 or equivalency training. This is the second time EHO has conducted a routine inspection and staff are not properly trained for Food Handling and safety.

NOTE: Facility continues to have outstanding Order for carpeted downstairs storage areas. As previously reported, carpet is unsuitable in food storage facilities and is not suitable for cleaning purposes. Facility has very high rodent activity therefore carpet is not permitted anywhere food is stored. Remove all food items from this area until such time as carpet can be removed.

FACILITY IS ORDERED CLOSED BY FRASER HEALTH AUTHORITY

REASON FOR THE CLOSURE:
13. Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are not maintained in sanitary condition [FPR s. 17(1) – s. 16]
16. Premises is not free of pests [FPR s. 26(a)]

THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS MUST BE TAKEN:
FACILITY IS CLOSED - CLOSURE ORDER ISSUED DUE TO SEVERE RODENT INFESTATION AND POOR SANITATION
The following actions must be taken:
1) Cease all food production immediately
2) All food must be examined for contamination and discarded if contamination by rodents has occurred
3) All rodent feces must be removed, the area cleaned and sanitized with a bleach sanitizer solution of 200ppm Chlorine
4) All dishes, utensils or counters or equipment exposed to, or potentially exposed to, rodents must be cleaned and sanitized
5) All dirty surfaces, including but not limited to coolers, counters, backsplash, handles, floors, shelves, etc., must be thoroughly scrubbed and cleaned
6) All holes must be sealed with non-chewable materials
7) All storage areas are to be cleaned and clutter free; No food is to be stored in downstairs storage area
8) Remove any items not necessary for business (included clutter and junk)
9) Pull all items from shelves, clean and sanitize
11) Facility is to remain closed until granted Approval to Operate by FRASER HEALTH DEPARTMENT
12) Closure Order is to remain posted until removed by FRASER HEALTH DEPARTMENT
13) Do not move, alter, cover, destroy, etc Closure Order
14) Obtain services of Pest Control company and facility inspected and assessed; provide EHO with most recent Pest Control Company report; facility is to be pest proofed (including electrical cupboard)
