Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing of Practice (DLSP). All categories of care were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: Upon inspection of the emergency supplies it was observed that 4 boxes of crackers were expired.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that you have sufficient supplies to prepare, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19210 - CCLR s.58(1)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.
Observation: Upon reviewing the children's files and conversations with the manager it was noted that a child who requires extra support did not have a care plan.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children who required extra support have a care plan on site. Care plans must be reviewed annually.

Comments

At the inspection dated January 10, 2024 there were 32 children, 2 staff and the manager present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Actions required by the licensee and actions required the LO included here. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Education was provided regarding the children who are not immunized.
