Observation: Low level disinfectant for disinfecting tanning bed hard surfaces is in an unlabelled bottle and the disinfectant in the bottle may not be strong enough (no test strip available and no method to test concentration).
Corrective Action(s): Use a low level disinfectant and follow directions on the bottle. Verify that the concentration of disinfectant is as per the directions from the chemical supplier. Label the spray bottle to accurately reflect contents. Provide update to Fraser Health (by April 11, 2024).

Corrective Action(s): Provide health warning sign (as per RED Act) in all tanning rooms (with exception of spray tanning). Contact Fraser Health if you need more signs.

Comments

Services: Tanning, spray tanning, "body sculpting", and infrared sauna.
Tanning:
- Tanning checklist - copy provided during inspection. ***Please review.
- Age restriction sign posted at point of sale (front counter).
- ***Client information - please provide copy of client information/consent form to Fraser Health.
- ***Staff training - please provide staff training information to Fraser Health.
- Time is set at front desk (client cannot add time as per staff).
- Eyewear is "single client" (client purchases protective eyewear and brings back with them).
- Disposable tanning eyewear stickers (single use) are also available if client does not have their own protective tanning eyewear.
- Do not allow clients to use indoor tanning without adequate protective eyewear.
- Eyewear allows for client to see emergency off button - safety instructions to be communicated with each client.
- Bulbs on tanning bed are replaced at the same time. ***Follow instructions from tanning equipment supplier.
- Tanning Health warning signs are posted with the exception of the above.
- Low level disinfectant - see above. Update your infection control plan.
Other - Body Sculpting:
- Not inspected today (staff going on break).
- You are not permitted to provide any services that are restricted under the Health Professions Act.
General:
- Cleaning - Follow a written, routine cleaning schedule.
- Laundry on site - use hot dry.
- Customer and staff washroom - has hot/cold water, liquid soap, and single use towels.
- Pest control - Operator advises that the building has a licenced pest control contract.
- Room rental - any proposed changes to services or room rental - contact Fraser Health for approval.
Staff on site was going on break (no signature). Copy of report will be emailed to operator.
