Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice.

Observed Violations
No violations were found during the inspection.

Comments

At the inspection dated Oct. 18, 2023 there were 29 children and 7 staff present. The manager was also on-site and assisted for a part of the inspection. At this inspection, no contraventions were identified. This report was reviewed with the facility during the inspection.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following recommendations/discussions were provided:
- Continue to document minor incidents using the incident log bound book, and take note of any illness and unexpected events involving children not requiring medical attention, and that are not reportable incidents as described in Schedule H and staff to initial after each documentation.
- Continue to check the expiry date of items in the emergency supplies kit.
- Remove all items with a DIN or NPN # in the first aid kit, as parent’s permission is required before using these items on children. Mild soap and water can be used to clean any minor cuts or scrapes.
