Follow-up inspection to complaint inspection regarding pigeons in the temple. The following observations were made:
- No more pigeons were observed in the temple hall
- Signage is still posted to remind patrons that there are to be no live animals on premise, and that feeding pigeons is prohibited
- NOTE: Professional pest control company did not conduct the inspection as scheduled on January 10, 2018 (12 PM - 2 PM). They will be arriving on Wednesday, January 16th. Email the invoice to the district Environmental Health Officer of Fraser Health
The following deficiencies were corrected:
- Vast majority of rodent droppings sighted in previous inspection were removed
Old sofa in the staff room was disposed of, and rat droppings behind the sofa were eliminated
- Droppings behind domestic white cooler in kitchen have been removed
- Grease buildup from the prep table area across from the dishpit has been removed and area has been thoroughly power-washed
- Exposed ceiling tiles above prep table area have been replaced with intact tiles with LED lights underneath - excellent
- Hand-dryer near the entrance of the temple, as well as the one behind the dish pit, have been turned back on / repaired
- Cardboard is no longer present in the pot washing area - good. Area is in improved sanitary condition and vegetable debris will be flushed out at the end of the day
- Food-grade sanitizer (200 ppm) present in kitchen. Instructions were present in English and Punjabi to use the sanitizing pail and to place wiping cloths back into the pail after use, so that bacteria can be actively disinfected. Remember to routinely switch out the sanitizer solution (i.e. every 2-4 hours)
- Equipment storage room is in improved sanitary condition - all pots that were previously on the floor have been cleaned and sanitized, and elevated above the floor (placed on shelving). Reminder: There is still some debris on the floor, which should be swept up by the end of the day
- One long-term storage room (in poor structural condition, with lights dangling from the top) is now LOCKED OFF to the public and to volunteer members. This storage room will be demolished as per the facility's renovation plans
TEMPLE COMMITTEE:
- Contacts for the temple committee have been acquired by the Environmental Health Officer for the manager of the temple and two committee members overseeing food safety and construction
- Committee member in charge of food has current FoodSafe 1 certification taken one year ago. She will be organizing a volunteer FoodSafe 1 training session by a certified FoodSafe 1 instructor, to take place this weekend. She has agreed to supply the district Environmental Health Officer with a complete list of chefs and volunteer members in a binder. Remember that at least one person on-site should have FoodSafe 1 at all times
THE FOLLOWING WILL NEED TO BE ADDRESSED:
- Tiles above the dish-pit area will need to be covered - to be discussed in next committee meeting on February 5th. Estimated timeline for tiles to be replaced is in approximately 2 weeks' time
- Renovation timeline still need to be sent to the district Environmental Health Officer once deadlines have been finalized. To be sent by January 21st, 2019
Another follow-up inspection will be conducted in a month's time. |
