Introduction

An unscheduled follow up inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP).
Areas of non-compliance identified at the last routine inspection were reviewed today.
The following contraventions have been addressed:
11010 – The main garbage now has a lid and the curled carpet has been taped to be safe from tripping
12040 – Criminal record check clearance is now in place for the staff
12050 – New staff file now contains references
12200 – The annual emergency evacuation drill was practiced in December 2018
12370 – A staff exemption was approved for this new staff to work as part of the staffing plan but has expired. (see contravention for details)
14020 – An exemption was approved for a child not meeting age requirements to attend
19090 – Attendance records are accurate at time of inspection
19190 – All children’s files are complete with emergency consent

Contraventions

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12350 - CCLR s.37(2) - A licensee must replace an absent employee.
Observation: Licensing observed that an absent employee has still not been replaced by a qualified staff. One staff is working in place of this staff but does not hold the appropriate qualification. This staff is in training and a staff exemption will be considered to meet this section of legislation
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure absent employees are replaced as per Section 37 of the child care licensing regulations. Please submit an exemption application for a staffing plan to Licensing by the date below.

At inspection dated May 13th 2019 there were 12 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified
A corrective action plan is required to be submitted by the licensee by May 17th 2019
