Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the licensing officer’s observations, review of the facility records, and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.

· Nutrition and Food Services

· Records and Reporting
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection, and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation: The name of the manager is not posted in the facility.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure the name of the manager is posted in a prominent place in the facility.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: No record of fire drills being conducted for March and April. The Manager relayed that they were completed and just not recorded.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure monthly fire drills are recorded regularly.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: Six children's files were reviewed and one file was missing confirmation of immunization status.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all children's files are complete including immunization status.

Comments

Seven children in attendance during today's inspection. The children were observed engaged in free play, hand washing, snack and circle time. Numerous materials available and supervision was consistent and supportive. All preschool sessions files and attendance were reviewed.

The Manager relayed that the outdoor play yard would be getting a refresh over the summer when the program was closed. LO explained if any structural changes were to take place Licensing would need to be informed prior.

Resources shared today include; Immunization Posters, Reportable Incident Forms, and Fraser Health "Your Checklist".
