Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): At the time of the inspection a fan was running in the classroom that was at an accessible height to the children. The holes on the fans grill were large enough for children's fingers to fit through which also made the blades accessible. Licensing discussed ways to keep the fan in the room while making the blades inaccessible.

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated June 17, 2019 there were 11 children and 2 staff present in the preschool program. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. The contravention was addressed at during the inspection.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
